On December 26, the closing ceremony of "Turkic World Tourism Capital 2023 – Shamakhi" took place in Shamakhi, organized by the State Tourism Agency with the support of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The event was attended by representatives of tourism authorities from OTS member states, delegations from Turkestan city of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and officials from the Executive Power of the Shamakhi region.

During the ceremony, the tourism potential of Turkestan, which has been selected as the "Turkic World Tourism Capital" for 2024, was presented to the participants. Promotional videos showcasing both Shamakhi and Turkestan were also demonstrated.

At the conclusion of the event, a symbolic key was presented to the delegation of Turkestan in recognition of its selection as the "Turkic World Tourism Capital" for 2024.

It is worth noting that Shamakhi was designated as the "Turkic World Tourism Capital" for 2023 at the 7th Meeting of the Ministers of Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Shamakhi on May 23–24, 2022.
